by Ann Withanee — July 2, 2012—Shaw introduced LokDots, a pressure-sensitive carpet adhesive, during NeoCon 2012 in June at Shaw’s showroom in The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. The non-toxic and odorless system, an alternative to wet adhesives, was acknowledged with a Silver Award for workplace technologies in The Best of NeoCon product competition, a highlight of NeoCon each year.
LokDots is a pressure-sensitive adhesive for the installation of EcoWorx carpet tile. This non-toxic and odorless system provides an alternative to wet adhesive, virtually eliminating the issue of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), and providing ease and versatility of installation. The pressure-sensitive adhesive virtually eliminates the issue of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs), a welcome benefit for facilities managers concerned about the issue of odors and safe air quality in the workplace.
LokDots is applied with a durable, lightweight handheld dispenser whose triggerless design is ergonomically safe and intended for repetitive use. This intuitive system, explains Shaw, allows for flexible installation regarding perimeter and interior cutting. Floor preparation is limited to cleaning dust and debris.
Shaw says that a 1.1 pound block of LokDots will install the same amount of carpet as a 35-pound bucket of wet adhesive, resulting in a 97 percent reduction in weight, so using LokDots can reduce shipping costs and increase shipping efficiency.
