by Ann Withanee — June 27, 2012—As companies strive to support fast-emerging technologies, consideration must also be given to developing tools to support the technology users themselves. Facilities managers and other corporate decision-makers must, as Canada-based Tayco puts it, “respond to rapidly support new technology and work cultures.”
Tayco Panelink Ltd., a designer, manufacturer, and marketer of office furniture systems and supporting products, responds with the Concourse workstation. Introduced during the annual NeoCon contract furnishings show at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, Concourse is the first phase of Tayco’s newest development.
Concourse, which by definition is “an assemblage; a gathering; a coming together,” was derived by the design objective to satisfy companies seeking an alternative to traditional desks/cubicles in order to enhance collaboration among employees.
Concourse resolves a number of applications with understated elegance and modern sophistication. Tayco explains that this new European-style development responds to current workplace trends with open-plan applications and low and minimal divisions, as well as countless ergonomic considerations.
“Concourse was created to be a spiritual union of form and function that solves complicated problems eloquently without appearing complicated,” says Tayco Director of Design, Dakota Kasdorf. “Great design is predicated by youthful idealism and a fundamental understanding of the function that it will perform. The corporate environment must respond rapidly to support new technology and work cultures with an essence for humanity. Great furniture brings everything together seamlessly.”
The first phase of Concourse will be officially launched in September 2012 and resolves simple benching, open place environments, and private offices. Subsequent enhancements to the product will further increase its functionality and ability to respond to current industry trends.
