NeoCon 2013: Leland intros three seating collections, wins Editors’ Choice Award

by Brianna Crandall — June 24, 2013—Leland International launched three new seating products during NeoCon 2013 in Chicago June 10-12. Slam Beam won an Editors’ Choice Award and was an entrant in the Best of NeoCon Competition in the Seating: Benches category. Leland’s Slam Chair was also a BON entrant in the Seating: Guest category, and Palomino was an entrant in the Seating: Sofas and Lounge category.

Slam Beam – Café/Dining Chairs

Described as possessing simplified sophistication and distinguished proportions, Editors’ Choice-winning Slam Beam brings a “hovering elegance” to bench seating. Fixed two-, three- and four-seat arrangements, with or without arms, are available in three base colors and can include tables on the end or between seats.

Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, the graceful seats in wood or polypropylene finishes like the Slam Chair, combined with an intense attention to detail, help Slam Beam add a refined aesthetic to any facility, says Leland. Order entry begins July 1, with a lead time of 10-12 weeks.

Designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, Slam Chair is shown here in 3D veneer in natural white oak.

Slam Chair – Café/Dining Chairs

Described as a floating elegance with refined proportions, Slam pays precise attention to the smallest details, says Leland. A concealed connection suggests the shell is poised between both sides of the frame, seemingly hovering above the floor. With five frame options, three shell materials, and a powder coat on chair bases textured to match a polypropylene matte finish, Slam can easily furnish a number of spaces within a single facility while maintaining a common aesthetic, adds the company.

The Slam shell comes in a choice of four polypropylene colors or six stained finishes on white oak. The seat is available fully upholstered or with an upholstered seat onlay, with eight upholstery options. Frame options include three textured powder coat frame finishes, chrome or polished aluminum. The chair is available in a sled base or four-leg base, with an optional tablet arm and ganging device. Also designed by Lievore Altherr Molina, the Leland Slam chair was awarded the Prize of Excellence “Coup de Coeur” at this year’s SIDIM Design Show in Montreal, Canada. The current lead time for this product is 6-12 weeks.

The classic, light Palomino collection defines intimate spaces within open-plan environments.

Palomino Lounge

Described as compellingly classic with a sense of lightness rather than bulk, Palomino perches the seating surface on an angled base to define intimate spaces within open-plan environments. Designed by California-based Jess Sorel, who aims to bring delight to those who use his products, Palomino can be configured for all reception and lounge areas within a facility. A steel beam base is available with walnut, brushed stainless steel or powder-coated legs, and inline and free-standing table tops come in walnut, stone or solid surface. Order entry begins July 1, with a lead time of 10-12 weeks.
