by Brianna Crandall — July 3, 2013—Contract furniture manufacturer OFS Brands recently announced that the company won three Best of NeoCon Awards at NeoCon 2013, billed as the world’s largest product exposition for contract interiors. OFS Brands products honored with a Best of NeoCon Award include Eleven Work Space, Slate by OFS, and Carolina’s Mile Marker. Sponsored by Contract magazine, the annual Best of NeoCon juried competition awards Gold, Silver and other honors for new products that reflect design excellence and innovation.
Eleven Work Space by OFS captured a Best of NeoCon Gold Award in the Furniture: Benching category. Swiss architect and designer Daniel Korb developed Eleven around a fundamental concept: “Furniture is Architecture on a Different Scale.” This inspires a seamless blend of furniture functionality, connectivity, storage, and media integration that harmonizes with interior architecture. Informed by the international style and an architect’s attention to detail, Eleven presents an adaptable, sustainable aesthetic that scales from private to collaborative and open spaces.
Interestingly, the 1 and 1 in the number 11 (“Eleven”) stand for the die-cast polished aluminum leg and the anodized extruded aluminum rail—the two parts that establish the frame. The legs can be painted a variety of colors, and the work surfaces are available in HPL, TFL or wood veneer. The vertical column electrical wire manager can be positioned anywhere under the center spine of the table to manage the wires from the floor up to the underside of the spine. The electrical system uses a UL-certified eight-wire, four-circuit system, and baskets are offered both for wire management and to lay in data and voice cables. The work surface tops have three-millimeter-thick edge-bands and are softened at the edges.
Slate by OFS won the Best of NeoCon Silver Award in the Conference Room Furniture category. Slate creates efficient collaboration and sharing venues with boardroom amenities in the midst of open areas. Concise and intuitive, Slate provides media support, space division, collaboration tools, power, and storage in a seamless interface made to help people work together more effectively. The unit features handy interior storage with a flip-up door on top, a wastebasket below, and a refreshment station in between. Technology access is built into the work surface, and the wall supports a monitor for digital sharing and interaction.
Mile Marker by Carolina won the Best of NeoCon Silver Award in the Healthcare Furniture (non-seating) category. Mile Marker delivers forward-thinking solutions to positively impact the healing experience for caregivers, patients, and their families. With its insightful product offering and smart design, Mile Marker instinctively responds to differing needs in the healthcare landscape, says the company. Perceptive caregiver stations, serene patient rooms, and amenity-rich family respite areas are designed to enhance healing with higher performance.
