NeoCon 2013: Resilient Tandus floorcoverings bring home Gold, Silver, Innovation Awards

by Brianna Crandall — June 19, 2013—International floorcovering solutions provider Tandus Flooring showcased several of its hybrid resilient, modular, broadloom and woven products at the NeoCon 2013 contract furnishings show in Chicago June 10-12. In the prestigious Best of NeoCon Competition, Narrative was a Gold Award winner in the Hard Surface Flooring category and an Innovation Award winner in the Healthcare Flooring category; the Grasscloth Collection was a Gold Award winner in the Healthcare Flooring category; and Presage was a Silver Award winner in the Carpet: Broadloom category.

Narrative is described as an innovation in hybrid resilient flooring, available in both modular and sheet platforms for “complete freedom of design,” particularly suitable for healthcare corridors and clinical spaces. The product features easy coving and no transition strips, and seams are impermeable, says Tandus. The wear layer is reportedly a breakthrough in digital print technology on a thin polyester screen with unlimited designs and gradations of color, and clarity permanently protected with a factory-applied finish. Narrative is 100% PVC-free with 50% post-consumer recycled content, adds the company.

The Grasscloth Collection is designed to bring updated visuals and naturally fresh colors to healthcare. Combined high and low luster face fibers create silky sheen in clear, contemporary motifs. Described as progressive yet familiar, the Grasscloth Collection presents five rich designs with an inspiring palette that establishes a Day Spa, hospitality-like aesthetic, particularly for independent and assisted senior living.

Tandus also entered its Modular HalfTone product and the String Theory Series in the Best of NeoCon Carpet category; both Jackson with ethos and Narrative in the Hard Surface Flooring category; and the Woven Matrix Collection and Presage in the Carpet: Broadloom category.

Tandus also added some new twists to its popular Powerbond resilient flooring that make it attractive for facilities managers who need a large area carpeted with a product that is flexible and easy to maintain. Powerbond has a longer life, a wide variety of designs, can be on large sheets (6′ wide and up to 100′ long), and can hold 10 pounds of moisture in the concrete without hurting the carpet, claims the company. Damaged parts of the carpet can be cut out and replaced with a peel-and-stick replacement.
