NeoCon 2013: Sedia Systems intros swing-away lecture hall seating, compact auditorium chair

by Brianna Crandall — June 24, 2013—Sedia Systems, a leading manufacturer of lecture hall and auditorium furniture, introduced its new O60 and Mura fixed-seating products at the NeoCon 2013 contract furnishings show in Chicago June 10-12. O60 was an entrant in the Best of NeoCon Competition under the Education Solutions category, and Mura was an entrant under the Seating: Guest category. Sedia Systems’ JumpSeat Wall took Silver in the category of Healthcare: Guest/Lounge Seating.

O60

Created by Orlandini Design for Sedia Systems, the O60 Series is a fresh design in swing-away lecture hall seating, says the company. The system’s center pedestal resembles the sleek design of an airplane wing. Available with multiple chair options, this cutting-edge system is an ideal solution for today’s higher education and corporate learning environments.

O60 features include single or dual seat swing-away seats; an auto-return cylinder; a torsion spring mechanism for consistent seat return; straight or radius row configurations; and flat, sloped or tiered floor installations. Options are: integrated wire management, multiple power and data modules, and modesty panels.

Mura is a compact and elegant auditorium chair with a sliding reclining mechanism.

Standard seat styles for the O60 are: Turandot, Tecton, Conpasso, Brazo, Discover, Diffrient World, Liberty, Freedom, Freedom Saddle, and Freedom Pony Saddle. The writing surface is laminate, and the modesty panels come in laminate, veneer and metal. Edge styles include 3mm PVC, T-Mold, Urethane and Solid Wood finishes.

Mura

Designed by gino gamberini for Sedia Systems, Mura is a compact and elegant auditorium chair, says the company. The gravity uplift system automatically retracts via a synchronized movement, reportedly reducing the volume of the chair and increasing the available space between rows.

The armchair is equipped with an intuitive, sliding reclining mechanism that allows the user to sit upright or recline for added comfort. Mura chairs connect in a straight row configuration, and may be installed on flat, sloped or tiered floors. Upholstery finish options are Fabric, Vinyl or Leather.
