by Brianna Crandall — July 1, 2013—Teknion Corporation recently announced the premiere of CanFocus — a new time management system that enables employees in today’s popular open-concept work environments to signal their availability visually and digitally with a single click — at NeoCon 2013 in Chicago. CanFocus was an entrant in the Best of NeoCon Competition under the category of Workplace Technologies.

“The 21st century office is an increasingly collaborative, open environment to share knowledge and ideas — a vibrant space where ideas come to life. It is also an environment where we need to focus and avoid both physical and digital distractions,” said Jeff Ball, Director, Product Management, Teknion. “Now, with CanFocus, every employee is able to effectively manage their personal and group collaboration time. It gives employees greater control over their environment and their day, leading to a richer work experience and greater productivity. Serenity, even in an open environment, is now just a click away.”

CanFocus acts quite simply as a traffic light of personal or group availability. The physical component is an elegant circular desktop light that, when tapped, switches between green and red to signal “available” or “do not disturb” to coworkers.

CanFocus fully integrated hardware and software enables user control of digital interruptions as well. A simple tap on the CanFocus icon on a smartphone, computer or tablet instantly changes status on all devices simultaneously, advising fellow employees in real time of their availability. When status color changes to red, all incoming e-mail, phone and instant messages are “parked” on a server. Users, however, still maintain 100 percent digital connectivity and can surf, research and communicate outwards to the rest of the world. Once status is set to green, all messages are forwarded immediately with no loss of data or formatting.

The CanFocus software allows multiple levels of interaction and corporate hierarchy permission, plus preconfigured automation, key data collection and burst emergency mode. More advanced administration tools enable the configuration of workgroups, extended reporting and monitoring capabilities. Settings are user-customizable.

At NeoCon 2013 Teknion also unveiled its Keel Lounge Chair, Spectrum Lounge Series, Fractals Seating Group (Best of NeoCon Gold Award in the Seating: Collaborative/Work category), Envita Lounge Series, B&B Italia Project Collection, Surface Tension textiles by Suzanne Tick (Gold Award in Textiles: Upholstery), Optos Low Profile seamless glass wall (Silver Award in Walls: Movable), and enhancements to the Interpret desking system (Silver Award in Furniture Systems: Enhancements).

CanFocus is a company dedicated to improving workplace productivity and organizational efficiency through innovative software and hardware solutions.
