Mimeo is the latest achievement in the evolution of seating from Allsteel. Designed in partnership with Bruce Fifield of Milan-based StudioFifield, Mimeo is marketed as a whole new approach to intelligent back support and personalized comfort, designed to redefine the shape of movement. Mimeo is lightweight and versatile, allowing it to be easily transported and visually integrated into a variety of spaces. This provides for active support of multi-directional sitting and promotes flexibility within the user’s environment.

Since moving is recognized as fundamental for a healthy work environment, Mimeo was designed to promote the individual movements of the user. It supports active sitting and work styles in today’s active workplace. Mimeo’s unique IntelliForm back technology allows for optimal flexibility and responsive movement that conforms to the user, resulting in the feeling of being embraced, says the company. This experience is enhanced by a three-dimensional (3D) knit layer that distributes pressure across the back, while adding a level of softness and breathability for a more personalized level of comfort.

The weight-activated synchronized tilt control automatically responds to each user and requires minimal manual adjustments, including three user-friendly levers that adjust the seat height, seat depth and back lock. In addition to providing support and enabling movement, the back lock can also allow for fixed postures. The fourth control is for 4D arm movement, which allows the user to adjust to changing positions.

Mimeo is the outcome of beautiful distinctive design, advanced technology, and smart materiality, and is designed to address growing industry trends. The workplace has evolved into a more open landscape, making seating a more visually prominent element of the space. With that evolution in mind, Allsteel focused on creating a product that fits seamlessly within a variety of aesthetics. Mimeo offers a relevant design that is appropriately scaled for highly visible office landscapes, while its diverse material options create a strong visual impact.

“In today’s workplace, task seating is influenced by shrinking workstations, more active and collaborative workspaces, and changing workplace demographics,” said Amy Luthman, product manager at Allsteel. “Mimeo delivers the spirit of design and performance that moves companies forward.”
