by Brianna Crandall — July 4, 2014—Spain-based international furniture designer and manufacturer Andreu World received three awards in the Best of NeoCon Competition for its new collections presented at the recent NeoCon trade fair in Chicago. All three are described below.
Gold: Flex Corporate seating collection
The Flex Corporate seating collection, designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, was bestowed the Best of Neocon Gold Award in the Conference Seating category. The jury noted the collection’s specific design for extended use in public spaces, as well as its ergonomic features, innovation and comfort.
Flex Corporate features a fully upholstered shell, with wider seating, a higher backrest and thicker foam. The upholstery is marked by elegant cross seams, making it an ideal option for corporate spaces. The collection provides an elegant and discreet aesthetic, with an attractive range of colors.
Gold: Raglan sofa
The Raglan sofa, also designed by Piergiorgio Cazzaniga, received a Gold Award in the Sofas and Lounge category. Raglan is a modular sofa designed for collective environments, making it appropriate for corporate or public and private spaces. Designed for comfort and character, its outline and shape are defined by the upholstered welt seam that conveys a solid and robust but delicate and soft design, says Andreu World.
The collection is comprised of lounge chairs; two- and three-seat sofas; and one-, two- and three-seat modular corners that are combinable with each other by a common four-leg structure made of injected aluminum and offered in white, black and polished aluminum finish. A side table is also available.
Silver: Unos chair
The Unos chair, designed by Jasper Morrison, obtained the Silver Award in the category Stacking chairs category. Unos is a collection of stackable chairs and chairs with arms made of solid beech wood; the seat and backrest are made of plywood.
The Unos chair design emphasizes innovative carpentry joinery and technology, which combine elaborate and precise woodworking with intelligent construction techniques reminiscent of the components used in aircraft, says Andreu World. The result is a rugged, lightweight and attractive chair, with balanced proportions and a serene and contemporary gesture.
