NeoCon 2014: Haworth’s Gold-winning Suite casegoods bring fine wood to adaptable private offices

by Brianna Crandall — July 4, 2014—A previous FMLink article covered Haworth’s Best of Competition and Best of NeoCon Gold awards at the NeoCon contract furnishings show in June for its Openest Collection for collaborative spaces by Patricia Urquiola. Among the other new products that the Holland-based global provider of furniture, interior architecture and technology solutions introduced at NeoCon, Gold-winning Suite and Intuity are described below.

Gold: Suite private office desks and casegoods, in the Case Goods category

Suite is a casegoods line that addresses the ever-changing world of adaptable workspaces while maintaining a level of richness found in fine wood furniture for the private office. Designed by Steffen Lipsky from the Haworth Design Studio, the line brings a heightened flexibility to the private office, facilitating a seamless transition between individual and group work. The contemporary design can be leveraged to achieve a variety of moods—classic to contemporary, professional to residential. Horizontal lines, minimal hardware and lighter scale components create a clean aesthetic, while the finishes and materials provide extensive freedom for design expression.

Suite effectively responds to today’s workstyles and design preferences within a space-efficient footprint, says Haworth. The casegoods keep operating costs down by letting the user align a space with its purpose—from a small, comfortable office for heads-down work or an individual retreat with easy access, to an adjacent meeting space, to a high-performance meeting room/collaborative space. These proportionate and thoughtful product solutions effectively utilize shrinking office footprints, leveraging valuable real estate such as knee wells and vertical space to house electronic devices, personal items, recyclables and more. Sliding door credenzas, reference shelves and storage elements are designed for a user-centered experience with items easily accessed and always in close proximity.

Adhering to BIFMA (Business and Institutional Furniture Manufacturers Association) standards, Suite reportedly demonstrates outstanding quality and durability. The veneer offering aligns with Architectural Woodwork Institute (AWI) standards, ensuring exceptional veneer quality and aesthetic consistency. The casegoods are also manufactured with a patented ultraviolet (UV)-cured finish for long-term product resilience. Suite is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and will contribute to LEED green building accreditation.
