NeoCon 2014: Inscape Interval+ (Gold) and Aria (Silver) add structure, connectivity to changing spaces

by Brianna Crandall — June 27, 2014—As covered previously on FMLink, smart workspaces provider Inscape captured four Gold and one Silver Best of NeoCon product awards at the recent NeoCon show in Chicago. Inscape Bench, Terri tory modular storage system, and Veil visual/acoustic accessories were detailed in previous articles. Two final products that help define spaces and increase productivity are highlighted below: Gold winner Interval+ architectural system and Silver winner Aria movable walls.

Gold: Interval+ architectural system

Interval+, Gold winner in the Furniture Systems: Enhancements category, is a dynamic post-and-beam architectural solution that injects structure and purpose to the in-between spaces of the open plan. The post-and-beam structure provides a skeletal framework for collaboration zones, enclosed private offices, and anything in between. A wide range of options is available, including storage, privacy screens, writing surfaces, wall or panel sections, worksurfaces, and interactive technology.

Interval’s construction features a flexible grid of beams, open on the top, to provide a simple route for cables and wiring. Communication cabling, HVAC equipment, sprinklers, lighting and power sources are all easily integrated, moved and serviced. From simple routing of electrical and data to fully integrated touch-screen technology, Interval is engineered to make complex furniture and technology integration simple.

Interval offers planning flexibility to address individual and team needs. Anodized aluminum construction is solid and durable, yet offers aesthetic appeal and complements adjoining spaces. Unique spaces can be created with 90 and 120 degree connections. Planning is simple with industry-standard 6″ modules, says Inscape, and Interval can easily be re-configured and re-used to accommodate evolving space requirements. Changes are reportedly clean, with none of the conventional construction mess, disruption or delays.

Interval integrates with other Inscape products to help create cohesive and functional spaces. Interval is level 2 and Greenguard certified. Because Interval is all aluminum framed, the recycled content is very high, which also helps with LEED credits. Most Interval installations will reportedly have over 60% recycled content.

Elegant and light in scale, Aria movable walls define environments, creating space for collaboration and technology hosting.

Silver: Aria movable walls

Elegant and light in scale, Aria movable walls define environments beautifully, says Inscape. Inspired by a refined minimalism, Aria’s materials and technologies are both functional and aesthetic elements. Designed by Babini Office in Italy, Aria offers a choice of laminated and tempered glass and connects vertically with polycarbonate or aluminum profiles that guarantee a perfect union with variable, three-way and 90° connection angles. Additional options include integrated storage walls, where storage seamlessly integrates to become one with the wall, providing beauty and function.

Aria offers transparency and brightness to encourage the free flow of thought and activity. The clean, low-profile frame is made of extruded aluminum and is available in natural anodized, matte black, and white. Glass panels are available in 3/8″ or ” thick glass, single or double- glazed for enhanced acoustic privacy with an STC rating of up to 43. Dry glazing polycarbonate strips mean no wet glazing is required, eliminating the need for professional glazers and enabling a faster and cleaner installation process, explains Inscape.

Aria creates space for collaboration and technology hosting. Wires are routed discreetly within technical modules, to create easy connections with lighting and technology. Aria’s solid wall panel with hang-on capability allows for the hosting of technology, enhancing the overall functionality of collaboration spaces.

Spaces promote interaction or ensure maximum privacy. Glass panels can be personalized with patterns, making the environment distinct and creating an increased level of privacy for conference rooms or private offices. For areas that require complete privacy, solid panels have the ability to provide different finishes on each side of the wall.

As to sustainability, Aria is reconfigurable, durable and recyclable, says the company. The glass and aluminum frame is made of recycled materials and is recyclable at the end of the life cycle. The frame is reconfigurable to adapt to changing workspace needs. Aria complies to off-gassing limits set by GREENGUARD. The product contains post-consumer and pre-consumer recycled content, is manufactured and assembled locally, and is designed for easy disassembly at the end of life
