by Brianna Crandall — July 4, 2014—Leland International introduced Ebb Mobile, the company’s new solution to auxiliary office seating and storage, at the recent NeoCon 2014 contract furnishings show in Chicago. Leland used the light hollow form of the successful Ebb Collection of wood benches, which won a Best of NeoCon Award in 2011, and adapted it for the workstation environment, keeping the design standards intact while completely altering the function.
The Ebb Bench, designed by Mark Gabbertas, uses a clean, simple design with striking shapes and configurations to add aesthetic appeal to any public-seating area. Ebb Mobile takes those design cues and adds functional, moveable storage space for individual offices, topped with a seat cushion so the unit can be pulled out for mobile personal seating or a quick collaboration session.
“We’re thinking beyond the mobile pedestal,” says Bruce Sienkowski, owner of 2B Studio, which collaborated with Gabbertas on this extension of the product. “Offices are relying less on paper, eliminating the need for bulky file cabinets, but workers still need a place for their personal items.
Two versions of Ebb Mobile give customers a choice between an empty vessel or a concealed bin and drawer. Each version is available in three textures of 1/8″ powder-coated steel and a variety of textiles to choose from for the upholstered seat pad, as well as die-cast casters and soft urethane wheels.
