by Brianna Crandall — June 25, 2014—MechoSystems came home with a Silver Award for its ShadeLoc shade system in the Window Treatments category of the Best of NeoCon Competition at NeoCon 2014 in Chicago two weeks ago. ShadeLoc is designed to help shade bands stay put amid hustle, bustle, and pressurization, reducing future energy and maintenance costs and improving the experience of building occupants.

MechoSystems ShadeLoc is a specialized roller-shade system consisting of a set of side-channel assemblies that capture the zippered edges of the material portion of a roller shade and hold it securely in place. ShadeLoc has single/double center channels for multiple shades to be linked, thereby saving on motor and wiring costs. This design allows each solar-shading or room-darkening shadecloth to withstand the push or pull of air pressure and other forces.

ShadeLoc offers solar shading, room darkening, or both solutions in one installation. The product is designed to eliminate light gaps at the edges of the shade to manage glare, add privacy, and provide completely darkened environments when desired for presentations or similar occasions in board rooms, conference centers, and more. These features also make ShadeLoc an ideal solution for health-care facilities since many include pressurized treatment rooms, high-traffic areas like emergency-room lobbies, x-ray rooms, and similar locations where a darkened environment is required.

The product is designed to track tall, narrow shades well. ShadeLoc offers easy installation with a separate mounting base and SnapLoc channel, and it reduces future energy and maintenance costs, says MechoSystems. The product is forthcoming in a first-of-its-kind DoubleShade configuration.

Founded in 1969, MechoSystems designs and manufactures innovative window-covering systems for the architectural and design communities around the world.
