by Brianna Crandall — June 20, 2014—Two of the new products that Palmer Hamilton/Nomad introduced at the Neocon contract furnishings show in Chicago last week swept the Education Solutions category of the Best of Neocon Competition—Go Juice garnered a Gold award, and Hive took Silver. The Go Juice mobile charging table is described below, and the Hive modular upholstered collaborative system will be detailed in a future FMLink article.
Go Juice cordless mobile charging table
Go Juice is an innovative mobile charging table that allows users to power phones, tablets and other USB devices without the table being tethered to a cord or plug. Available in white, black and light grey, the solution increases the mobility of users within a facility and the security of their devices, and reduces trip hazards and damaged furniture and floors from having to move furniture to reach wall outlets.
The table can be moved from place to place while charging devices, giving the ability to move power and charging capabilities anywhere in a facility at any time or any place. “The cost savings of not having to core the floor or add electrical wall outlets is tremendous—not to mention the freedom of adding power anywhere can have a tremendous positive impact on a facility,” said John Gardner, Palmer Hamilton president and CEO.
The secret is “under the hood” or top, so to speak, with a rechargeable battery system that powers the USB ports. The battery is low voltage, safe and reliable, says the company. An indicator light glows blue when battery power is adequate and turns red when battery life is below 20 percent. The GoJuice power/recharging unit features one USB port per side (four total). If all four USB ports are being used simultaneously, the battery will last approximately 12 hours; yet, in actual practice, the battery should last for two or three days, notes the company. The battery is easily accessed in a lockable battery compartment, it is warranted for two years, and it is also recyclable.
Go Juice has two recharging options:
- Untethered: Simply remove a low-charge battery and replace with a fully charged battery from a mobile battery cart. Place the low battery on the cart, move it to a back room and plug it in, and recharging begins. This option works well for a large quantity of tables.
- Self Charge: This table contains a battery and a single charger. When battery life is low, the table can be moved to any outlet and plugged in to recharge the table. Recharging typically takes two to three hours, although Palmer Hamilton recommends charging overnight.
“Go Juice will change how facilities provide power to tablets and phones forever. The possibilities are endless—imagine providing charging ports on dining tables or training tables that you can easily reconfigure for events,” says Jeff Schreiner, vice president of sales and marketing.
