by Brianna Crandall — June 19, 2015—Davis Furniture’s minimalist, versatile A-Chair brought home Gold in the Seating: Stacking category of the Best of NeoCon Competition announced this week at the NeoCon 2015 contract furnishings show in Chicago.

With a simple, no-nonsense design by Jehs+Laub, the A-Chair is an ideal side chair, says Davis Furniture. The eye-catching A-frame of the base borders the seat on either side with a distinctive style designed to shed light on the chair’s namesake. The slim legs are placed in a row, so only the width of a single leg is visible. This has a great soothing effect on the overall impression, says the company, so facilities personnel can fill a room with A-Chairs without overwhelming the space. This is said to make the A-Chair suitable for any application, whether it is in an office, café, waiting room, classroom, collaborative meeting space, or a boardroom.

Perhaps the A-Chair’s best feature is its versatility, adds Davis. Because of its modular construction, the shells and frames of these chairs can be combined in numerous ways. The frames are available in plastic or aluminum, and the seat options include: a plastic shell or a shaped wood seat shell with an upholstered seat pad, a seat liner, or a fully upholstered seat. The unusual mix of materials can be combined in any way to make for more versatility of design. The A-Chair is also available with armrests. Davis Furniture considers the A-Chair as the quintessential multi-purpose chair for a universal environment.

Also in the Best of NeoCon Competition, Davis Furniture’s Join Barstool took Silver in the Seating: Barstools category.
