NeoCon 2015: ESI launches sit-to-stand workstations to improve employee wellness, productivity

by Brianna Crandall — July 1, 2015—ESI Ergonomic Solutions debuted three new “sit-to-stand” workstations at the NeoCon 2015 contract furnishings show in Chicago last month that the company says can improve workplace productivity, performance and wellness.

The products consist of the Core Height Adjustable Table and the ErgoRise Series Sit-to-Stand Workstations, comprised of the Lift and Climb variations. Each new product gives users the flexibility of working from a sitting or standing position.

“ESI is launching these new sit-to-stand workstation products to address the increasing challenge of ‘over sitting’ that is often linked to health issues and discomfort in the workplace,” said Carol Keogh, President and CEO of ESI Ergonomic Solutions.

Core

Core is an electric-powered single-column height-adjustable table. Core offers soft-start and anti-collision features, and is engineered to be extremely smooth and quiet when adjusting from a sitting to standing position, with an exceptional height range from 25.7″ to 44.6″ (total travel range 18.9″), an adjustment speed of 1.4 inches/second, and a lifting capacity of 132 lbs. Available in Rectangle or Small Equal Corner shapes, the single-column table is said to be ideal for corner workstations, and is also available as a wall mount.

Lift is a compact, height-adjustable workstation that sits on top of the user’s desk and glides from a seated position to a standing position with an easy-to-use pneumatic column.

Lift

Lift is a compact, height-adjustable workstation that sits on top of the user’s desk. It glides from a seated position to a standing position with an easy-to-use pneumatic column. The 23.6″ x 15.74″ monitor is attached by a desk clamp or grommet mount. Lift has platforms that can hold a monitor and keyboard—or any work tools weighing up to almost 30 pounds. It features a keyboard platform of 23.6″ x 8.7″, with a drop of 3.2″, and includes a palm rest.

Climb

Climb is a height-adjustable workstation based on a single-post, pneumatic arm engineered for stability that attaches to the user’s desk with a desk clamp and allows the user to easily and smoothly adjust from a sitting to standing position throughout the day. The lift can be set anywhere on the 20″ post, yielding a 22″ height range. Using a VESA mount, the workstation features a single or double monitor holder, a keyboard platform with a built-in palm rest and the unique ability to reach a 0- to 15-degree negative tilt, and a work surface useful for writing while standing and for keeping papers and supplies close at hand, freeing up the desk work surface.

The new offerings promote a healthier, more productive work environment by giving people more choices around how they work. Having the option of sitting or standing throughout the day has been shown to improve productivity and health, reminds ESI.

“More and more employers are starting to make employee wellness a top priority,” said Keogh. “In fact, a recent study by Virgin Pulse indicated 86% of organizations agreed that well-being influences engagement most or all of the time. Keeping employees healthy will continue to be a concern for many companies in 2015 and the best place to start addressing that is by giving employees inexpensive, adaptive work tools in their workspace. The benefit far outweighs the investment.”
