by Brianna Crandall — July 20, 2015—At the NeoCon 2015 contract furnishings show in June, ergonomic office furniture manufacturer ISE exhibited its latest thoughts and ideas on how to tackle the changing dynamics of the way we work and learn, with technology requiring us to change how and where we work, as well as new studies confirming the health impacts of sitting too much.
ISE creates furniture for the human body: flexible, adaptable and embracing technology. With 30 years of ergonomics experience, ISE has provided height-adjustable tables for over 10 years, and the company says its RISE tables are the corporate standard at Fortune 500 companies across the United States and Canada.
This year, ISE moved to a permanent showroom (see tour page) on the 11th floor of the Merchandise Mart in Chicago designed by Liz Potokar. ISE’s NeoCon launches included products both large and small, from new ergonomic accessories to open-plan height-adjustable benching solutions.
New products for NeoCon 2015 are highlighted below.
Line-of-Sight Design Series. ISE’s innovative multifunction desks integrate technology into training furniture. Designed by Mark Müller, Line-of-Sight Design Series features a cast aluminum leg, and a range of finishes including veneer and 3form acrylics. At the push of a button, flat-screen monitors rise from the desk interior to instantly convert a classroom into a computer lab. Line-of-Sight Design Series is ideal for meeting and conference rooms, classrooms and collaborative spaces.
RISE Benching. The RISE Benching system integrates height adjustability into open-plan workplaces. With its cable spine, which carries hard-wired power and data across a run of desks, RISE Benching is a flexible and cost-effective way to integrate individual height adjustability into any size workstation, in a pod of two desks to 10. It is available in two height range for electric, or in crank or increment configurations, with fabric or acrylic privacy panels.
RISE Life. ISE previewed the next generation of height-adjustable tables. With the RISE Life app, ISE’s height-adjustable tables can track calorie usage and suggest changes of position to promote healthy working. Even more powerful, RISE Life automatically turns off computer monitors and LED task lights when the user departs for the day. In hot-desking environments, users can choose their desks through the app, with their exact settings pre-programmed into their chosen table.
Metro. Metro keyboard systems combine ISE’s ergonomic expertise with innovative design and materials. Designed by Mark Müller, Metro’s aluminum wrist pad is covered in four finishes of high-grade leather, creating a supportive yet tactile surface. Metro is available in three unique shapes and with ISE’s state-of-the-art adjustable keyboard arms.
Activate. ISE’s new Activate sit-stand unit is ideal for fixed workstations where height adjustability is prohibitively difficult or expensive to integrate. The unit attaches to any desk with a clamp or grommet and allows users to instantly change from sitting to standing. Activate is reportedly the only sit-stand unit to comply with the latest BIFMA standards on height adjustability.
