NeoCon 2015: Koncept garners Gold with sleek undercabinet LED light with controls

by Brianna Crandall — July 1, 2015—Following the success of the original UCX LED undercabinet light (winner of 2011 Best of NeoCon Gold and red dot: product design winner 2012 awards), home and office lighting manufacturer Koncept released its new UCX Pro light at the NeoCon 2015 contract furnishings show in Chicago in June.

Designed by Kenneth Ng and Edmund Ng, the slim, linear UCX Pro light won the Gold Award in the Lighting: Task/Desktop, Furniture-Integrated category of the prestigious Best of NeoCon Competition. This new version enters Koncept’s Pro family (Mosso Pro LED Desk and Floor lamps), which is characterized by “exciting, innovative” features while maintaining an emphasis on ultra-high energy efficiency, intuitive control and sleek, minimalistic design.

UCX Pro features include:

  • Extremely high energy efficiency: UCX Pro features double the efficiency of the original UCX (and that of its competitors, claims the company), consuming only half as much energy while outputting the same amount of light. The lifespan is 50,000 hours.
  • Adjustable light color: Change the light color from warm white to cool white or anywhere in between.
  • Built-in touchstrip control: Dim the brightness, change the light color, and touch the power on/off with just a touch.
  • Daisy-chain compatibility: UCX lights can be daisy-chained to connect several lights together.
  • Occupancy sensor (optional): The UCX Pro will turn off 15 minutes after an occupant leaves the room, and will illuminate the space with the user’s preferred settings upon their return.

    • The optional Wi-Fi module allows remote control of UCX Pro’s color, brightness settings, and/or on/off scheduling, and can be used to synchronize with the user’s body’s circadian rhythm.

  • Wi-Fi module (optional): Remotely control one or more: UCX Pro’s color, brightness settings, and/or on/off scheduling. The light can be scheduled to automatically change in intensity and light color throughout the day to synchronize with the user’s body’s “built-in clock” or circadian rhythm. The Personal Detection feature can be used to automatically turn on with a pre-set schedule when it connects to Wi-Fi, and automatically turn off when the user leaves.
