NeoCon 2016: Koleksiyon updates its innovative furniture systems

by Brianna Crandall — June 27, 2016 — After making its North American debut at NeoCon just last year, Istanbul-based international furniture manufacturer Koleksiyon opened a new showroom this year in Chicago’s iconic Merchandise Mart that illustrates the different ways Koleksiyon is solving workplace issues.

During NeoCon 2016, the new 4,000 sq. ft. space showcased the company’s collaborative workspaces and diverse product offerings, including the updated Tube stacking cabinet system and Cap furniture system, highlighted below.

Koleksiyon has over 40 years’ experience developing high-end furniture products suitable for the modern workplace as well as hospitality and residential settings. Since entering the U.S. market in 2015, the Turkish brand, which operates in 25 different countries, has been quickly catching the eye of the U.S. contract furniture market with its unique and innovative desk systems, shelving units, storage pieces, and other offerings. Koleksiyon’s U.S. headquarters opened in Dallas just this past March.

Tube

Introduced in the Best of NeoCon Competition’s [see FMLink article] Files and Mobile Storage Systems category, the Tube stacking cabinet system will now be available in five new color finishes.

The innovative Tube stacking cabinet system is now available in five new color finishes.

Designed by Studio Kairos, Tube offers a fresh take on the way documents are stored and both personal and work items are displayed. Flipping the traditional filing cabinet on its head, the main element in Tube is a single box — meant to resemble a tube — that acts as a building block. Architects and designers can build upon the initial box and add more pieces to create ordered compositions or even abstract installations.

Koleksiyon developed Tube as a flexible cabinet option that can adapt as a company grows or changes. Its modular cabinets stack up, and can be configured to have the doors open up, fold down, or offer pull-out drawers. The product can also be utilized as a partition, offering a unique and functional barrier between desks.

New for 2016, Tube will be available in three veneer finishes and five lacquered finishes, including matte black, matte white, mustard, teal and charcoal.

Cap

In today’s prevailing open office layout, privacy is a critical issue for those seeking personal space to concentrate and focus. Introduced in the Best of NeoCon Competition’s Furniture Systems category, Cap’s semi-enclosed upholstered shell reduces noise and blocks visual distractions.

Oblivion

Koleksiyon also added new upgrades to its highly acclaimed workspace pod, Oblivion. Designed by Koray Malhan, Oblivion serves a variety of needs within the modern office. Its circular form and high walls offer a new take on traditional cubicles, creating a more functional and adaptable workspace that can be outfitted with shelving, desks, and seating to accommodate various types of work and styles.

The Oblivion independent workspace partition was designed to fit within open office environments, providing semi-enclosed spaces for individuals or small teams to brainstorm, chat or lead a brief meeting.

With expanded product options that now include a four-foot-tall version, the round geometry of this “avant garde” workspace partition is an immediate break from most partition systems, which rely on square grid layouts for stability. Oblivion’s structure, however, allows it to stand independently from any external supports.

The pods can be configured to power specific technology needs and have the option for integrated LED lighting with no-show wiring.

Vis

Designed by Studio Kairos, Koleksiyon’s popular geometric storage system Vis has also been updated to include a curved version, adding additional design and layout flexibility. Vis is a lightweight and modern cabinet built on adjustable horizontal and vertical shelving planes.

The unit is fully customizable — during the install process, the designer can alter each zone within the cabinet. For a pop of color, the vertical shelving panels are available in a variety of hues to coordinate with other furniture. Additionally, Vis is multifunctional: the unit can act as storage, a display piece, or a partitioning element within an office space.
