by AF 0617c NEOCON — June 17, 2009—Allsteel’s Stride, its evolutionary series of worksurfaces, storage and space division, has reached its “next step” in offering of materials, including a more robust library of color options, textile, surfaces, and landscape materials. Showcased at NeoCon 2009 World’s Trade Fair, Stride took a Silver, Furniture Systems category, in the time-honored Best of NeoCon competition.
In developing Stride, Allsteel defined six distinct worker type: Director or Group Leader, Consultant, Customer Service Representative, Technical Specialist, Analyst and Field Service Representative. The workspace is responsive to business change, and spaces are designed the way individuals work rather than using a generic standard. Stride was designed to adapt, expand and change in sync with a business.
Showcased at NeoCon’09 World’s Trade Fair held annually in June at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, Stride won a Silver award for Furniture Systems, in the Best of NeoCon competition. Stride offers a diverse choice of materials and finishes and innovative use of space. For storage, Stride accommodates the “pliers” and the “filers,” and makes use of work space that’s typically underutilized: corner credenzas that layer beneath work surfaces incorporating side-access drawers and cupboards where binders and even a laptop can be stored away.
Stride represents a benchmark among its many achievements in sustainability. It is the company’s first complete offering to utilize the structured Design for the Environment (DfE) framework incorporating Life Cycle thinking in both product development and design processes. The primary goal with Stride, says Allsteel, was to use a lifecycle approach of design, build, use, reuse and recycle.
A first step was to be sure than 100% of the energy used to produce Stride is fully offset with the purchase of Green-E Energy certified wind renewable energy certificates from the Midwest region and to localize as much production as possible.
The Best of NeoCon product competition is sponsored by Contract magazine, Merchandise Mart Properties, Inc., The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), The International Facility Management Association (IFMA), and McMorrowReport.com.
