by AF 0623 c3 — June 29, 2009—The M2 monitor arm offers a longer life, a more streamlined look, and a more eco- and value-conscious choice that other monitor arms, says its maker Humanscale. M2 is an example of Humanscale’s ongoing quest to simplify design to benefit the purchasing organization, the user and the environment.

Integral to the M2’s benefits is an automatic spring mechanism. Current-generation adjustable monitor arms use a gas cylinder to counterbalance the weight of the monitor. The Ms’s automatic spring mechanism offers the same level of dynamic adjustability as a gas cylinder, but eliminates the shortcomings of built and failure-prone gas cylinders, says the company. With fewer parts and less weight, M2 requires less raw material and fewer manufacturing processes than similar supports. Its extended lifespan further limits its carbon footprint.

Introduced during the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, M2 was designed by the Humanscale Design Studio. It accommodates most monitors up to 24 inches in size, up to 20 pounds, and offers 10 inches of height adjustment and a 20-inch reach. Integrated cable management hides cords within the arm; mounting options include a clamp mount for desk edges and a desktop bolt-through mount suitable for grommets.
