by AF 0630 k3 NeoCon — July 1, 2009—Tambient, a manufacturer of single-component and portable task/ambient lighting systems, demonstrated energy-sensible innovations that blend the art and science of lighting, at NeoCon, the Worlds Trade Fair in Chicago. A division of SRSDI, Tambient is recognized for its aesthetic and efficient lighting technology.

Understanding that most work environments consume too much energy and workers tend to experience intrusive glare, Tambient provides optimal lighting conditions using the least amount of energy possible by focusing light only where it is needed (lighting loads are as low as 0.6 watts per square foot), according to the company. Tambient helps companies surpass stringent energy codes by up to 40 percent and contributes to LEED points while delivering visually appealing, well-lit environments. Reducing overhead lighting while increasing workstation luminance helps create a sense of privacy in a collaborative setting. Lowering the lighting loads also lower air conditioning demand as well.

Tambient exhibited several new styles of energy-efficient luminaires with enhanced aesthetic features at NeoCon. Style L231 luminaires incorporate efficient T5 lamps and “GlowLine” optics that convert underutilized lamp energy into a decorative illuminated accent.

Tambient also featured a “Tambour” style luminaire with a decorative scalloped front-panel extrusion on stanchion-mounted Style L228 luminaires. The system provides balanced, energy-efficient task and ambient lighting using a single-compact, long, twin tube lamp. Like all Tambient luminaires, Tambour integrates push-button, personal dimming and wireless controls to further customize a workspace.

Tambient also displayed a new portable concept designed for the private office, a floor-standing luminaire incorporating patented and patent-pending optics to provide high-quality task and ambient lighting from a single light source. The luminaires portability enables workers to easily reconfigure their workspaces based on changing needs throughout the day.

Elliptipar, a leading innovator in asymmetric lighting, demonstrated solutions such as Ovalinear XS, a powerful, low-energy fluorescent wall lighting system. Ideal for art walls, marker boards, conference rooms, displays and signage, the system incorporates an electronic ballast and an extra small asymmetric reflector within an elliptical housing. Ceramic metal halide luminaires (Ovalinear Styles M105 and M106) were featured, which provide energy-efficient performance from high color-rendering light sources. In addition, the recently introduced Ovalinear Style M159 was on display, which is ideal for up-lighting entry canopies or illuminating signs where faithful color rendition is important.

Tambient was part of the new lighting pavilion debuting this year at NeoCon to introduce cutting-edge lighting products developed for the hospitality, commercial and health care industries.
