by AF 0618 b3 — June 30, 2010—Leland International introduced the Pluto Bench during NeoCon World’s Trade Fair at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. It won a Silver award in the Seating: Benches category in The Best of NeoCon. Scaled for one, or serve as a cozy seat for two, the Pluto Bench is designed to define personal space in public set environments. The sculptural elliptical form is pleasing to view from any angle and when grouped together, they create intriguing arrangements, says the company.
Asked about the inspiration for Pluto, President Tim Korzon replied, “Have you ever been in a public area and found an open seat ‘occupied’ by coats, backpacks, or briefcases? Pluto’s pod concept defines personal and overcomes the inevitable sprawl that occurs in public seating applications.”
Leland also introduced two other products during NeoCon: the Crepe Chair and the Croix Table. The Crepe Chair has a flowing shell surface, tapered from the center to the top of the back and front of the seat. It is available in 33 finish colors on maple, 6 opaque colors on ash, and 7 faux exotic veneers, as well as 9 powder coat base colors. The Croix Table is designed with a refined transition of the top surface to the table column, a design detail not typical for this category of tables, notes the company.
The Best of NeoCon product competition is sponsored by Contract Magazine; IIDA (International Interior Design Association); IFMA (International Facility Management Association); MMPI (The Merchandise Mart); and the McMorrow Report.
