by AF 0617 a3 — June 25, 2010—The RoomWizard by Steelcase, a next-generation scheduling device, was honored with a Gold Award in The Best of NeoCon competition in the Workplace Technologies category.
RoomWizard connects people with the spaces they need to be more productive, explains Steelcase. It has been upgraded, beginning with an intuitive touch-screen display that greets users and instantly lets them know the availability of a space. Furthermore, RoomWizard installs simply, is easy to use, and can be accessed remotely via laptop or mobile phone, allowing users to see what rooms are available and who is in the room. As a result, scheduling conflicts are eliminated and impromptu meetings are more easily supported.
The RoomWizard is packed with aesthetic and functional upgrades, notes the company. It has a new visual design, customizable graphics, and works off a touch display. On the functional side, RoomWizard includes a new operating system that delivers power over Ethernet, simplifying installation costs and reducing energy consumption. Optional features include password security, ZigBee wireless connectivity, and integration with third-party software for such features as occupancy sensing and guest services.
Room Wizard, and its companion media:scape, were displayed in the Steelcase showroom at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, during NeoCon World’s Trade Fair in June. The Best of NeoCon is sponsored by Contract Magazine; IIDA (International Interior Design Association); IFMA (International Facility Management Association); MMPI (The Merchandise Mart); and the McMorrow Report.
