by AF 0621 c3 — June 25, 2010—Teknion Corporation previewed its new Conflux LED Lighting collection during NeoCon World’s Trade Fair and garnered a Gold award in The Best of NeoCon product competition, held during NeoCon at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. Teknion says it has introduced design and technology advancements to LED lighting with its flat-panel structure and body heat occupancy sensor. It also serves as a power source.
“I designed a comprehensive line of LED lighting with minimal form and the highest-quality materials, finishes and technology enhancements,” said Carl Gustav Magnusson, Industrial Designer, CGM Design. “With refined lines and precise details, Conflux acts as an anecdote to the visual clutter of busy work areas and elevates the aesthetics of LED lighting. The simple anodized aluminum profile incorporates subtle arcs that soften its angles, while the control console has an appealing luminosity and tactility that invites the user to connect with the light.” To help illuminate all areas of a work environment, the Conflux family includes the Adjustable Task Light, Desk Lamp, Floor Lamp and Undercabinet Light. Conflux’s flat panel design delivers a better quality of light — similar to daylight — with less shadow and glare; the micro-etched guide helps diffuse light over a large surface. The light also is dimmable.
Conflux utilizes a Passive InfraRed (PIR) occupancy sensor that works based on body heat. PIR sensors are more accurate than traditional infrared sensors and provide fewer false occupancy readings. As an energy-saving measure, a timing device turns the light off in predetermined intervals. In small, shared settings, the PIR sensor detects 360-degree coverage of human activity, preventing premature shutdowns while others occupy surrounding workstations.
Conflux is also a power source for electronic devices. The Adjustable Task Light features wireless-charging Powermat technology and is equipped with a 5-volt 500mA USB charging outlet.
The collection is made from durable materials including aluminum and polycarbonate molding. Conflux is lead- and PVC-free, RoHs (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive) compliant and 99 percent recyclable.
