by Ann Withanee — Bentley Prince Street, Inc., showcased the cultural scene of Los Angeles and highlighted its leadership in sustainability during this year’s NeoCon World’s Trade Fair at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago. The company also posed a challenge to the design industry to demand transparency when it comes to sustainability in manufacturing.
The Silver Screen Collection, inspired by vintage Hollywood and California, received a Gold award in The Best of NeoCon competition. The Collection features Flashing Lights, Oscar Worthy, and So Vintage.
Another carpet tile, Illuminaire, was laid out using Bentley Prince Street’s new, patent-pending 45° cut technology with a multidirectional installation method. It is an edgy, new angle on the world of modular carpet, says the company.
The inspiration for this year’s NeoCon was derived from the concept of Art Redefined, Culture Reinterpreted, Fashion Redesigned. This concept delves into every facet of Bentley Prince Street and has been used to transform its Merchandise Mart, Chicago, showroom into a contemporary interpretation of a private gallery space within a spectacular Los Angeles 40’s era mansion.
Bentley Prince Street also promoted its sustainability initiatives, including its Picturesque Products find Purpose sustainability theme. The company’s plush wool products such as Wool Fundamentals and Clodagh’s Natural State pay homage to wool as a natural, renewable resource that Bentley Prince Street often uses in its products. The company has also committed to securing Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for 100 percent of its manufactured products in the year 2012, as part of its Mission Zero promise.
