by Ann Withanee — June 22, 2011—According to Steelcase research, it takes a mobile worker eight minutes from the time he sits down to set up and to become engaged in his work again. This research into the habits of mobile workers led to the development of the SOTO II Worktools, a collection of organizational and productivity tools by Details, a division of Steelcase.
Designed to enhance the experience of mobile workers, the SOTO II collection by Details was awarded Gold in the Best of NeoCon product competition during the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair, in The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.
“Mobile workers want to connect quickly and get working fast. SOTO II products encourage and allow this behavior by providing the right tools to welcome to the user to the workspace,” says Jody Hanson, general manager of Details. “Connectivity, privacy, access to personal items and quick access to power are equally important to making a mobile worker feel comfortable.”
The collection includes work tools designed to be multi-functional, optimizing space, boundaries and storage. The products are:
- Mobile Caddy: Anticipates user’s needs for a place to stow personal items and work bag.
- Launch Pad: Available in both powered and non-powered versions, the Launch Pad gives users a desktop area to conveniently hold power and mobile devices or other personal items.
- Launch Pad Divider Screen: Allows the Launch Pad to be easily divided, giving users individual space and privacy between workstations.
- Functional Screen: Combines organization and privacy by offering an integrated envelope in which to keep frequently used documents, books or other materials.
- Personal Pocket: Provides a place to store papers, files or other frequently used items and can be used freestanding or ganged in multiples to create a desktop organizer.
- Cable Clip: Attaches to the worksurface edge to keep data cables where they are needed—on the desktop for quick connection—and prevents them from falling behind the desk or into the cableway.
- Personal Hook: Attaches simply to the edge of a work surface providing a place to put lightweight bags, umbrella, headphones, or keys where they are handy and kept off the floor or work surface.
- Launch Pad: Available in both powered and non-powered versions, the Launch Pad gives users a desktop area to conveniently hold power and mobile devices or other personal items.
The SOTO II Worktools collection is made in the United States and is designed to meet Silver Cradle to Cradle specifications.
