by Ann Withanee — June 20, 2011—Tandus Flooring introduces Dynex SD Lustre, the first high-luster, solution-dyed nylon, and incorporates it into Estuary, a comprehensive broadloom collection for senior living. Estuary offers silky sheen, luxurious luster and stunning, saturated colors, with the superior performance, colorfastness and cleanability of solution-dyed nylon. The Silver Award of the Best of NeoCon competition was presented to Tandus during the NeoCon World’s Trade Fair at The Merchandise Mart, Chicago.
Seven contemporary patterns provide a series of designs, scales and colors to suit spaces from patient rooms to corridors, dining, theaters, lobbies and libraries. Thirteen colorways are refreshing interpretations of olive, red/rust, gold, sage, purple, blue, grey and earth neutrals that have been carefully selected to coordinate with the newest senior living interior finishes from leading manufacturers.
A range of environments can be accomplished with two large-scale, three mid-scale, and two small-scale transition patterns:
- Large-scale styles Ellesmere and Rivulet offer open, free-flowing motifs. Rivulet evokes the beautiful, classic damask patterns of the 40’s and 50’s, while Ellesmere sooths with timeless flora notes reminiscent of Queen Anne’s lace.
- Mid-scale styles Santolina, Myrtle and Lavande bring fresh floral influences to the corridor.
- Small-scale styles Watercourse and Coastal provide creative opportunities for transitioning and bordering. Watercourse’s intricate freehand mimics the meandering flow of a waterway, lending subtle quiet elegance, while Coastal offers geometric counterbalance for spaces such as libraries and physical therapy.
- Mid-scale styles Santolina, Myrtle and Lavande bring fresh floral influences to the corridor.
Estuary derives its silky sheen from 33 percent Dynex SD Lustre, with the remainder of the face fiber composed of standard Dynex SD. The 100 percent solution-dyed yarns have extreme colorfastness and light-fastness and may be cleaned with a bleach solution. LifeLONG moisture barrier backing precludes liquid flow-through and microbial growth, while providing excellent rollability and 22-37 percent recycled content. The collection also is available with ErgoStep, a bio-based rapidly renewable backing with 30 percent post-consumer content and 8.6 percent bio-based content from ingredients made from soybean oil.
