by Shane Henson — September 14, 2011—Facilities managers worldwide searching for alternative lighting solutions that will allow them to reduce their overall lighting costs in a sustainable way while improving lighting efficiency may find themselves turning to ecoNoon, a small startup company in Malaysia built upon a U.S. patent of the light-emitting diode (LED) lighting module.

According to Ir Ooi Seoh Lin, ecoNoon’s chief marketing officer, the company’s products stand out as saving more energy than most other LEDs. Part of the company’s business model is to retrofit existing luminaires or lighting fixtures with LED light bulbs or light modules. Also, he says, ecoNoon’s LED light bulbs run cooler due to the absence of Metal Core Printed Circuit Boards (MCPCB) that are used in almost 100 percent of all LED lights on the market today. Instead, its patent-pending optical and thermal solutions as well as structural solutions provide several advantages over the existing art.

The company’s energy-saving product pipeline is in full swing:

  • Globe Bulbs (GL series) are being commercialized and will be ready in September.
  • HID (High Intensity Discharge Lamp)/Sodium Replacement Bulbs (SB series) are undergoing certification and will be available in October.
  • Mini Spot Light Bulbs/Spot Light Bulbs (ML/SL series) will be ready in three months.

Each bulb is guaranteed for at least 30K to 50K hours or five years, depending on wattages.
