by jbs012310 g3 — January 25, 2010—The U.K.’s RICS (the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) has extended its new grade of associate membership to include the FM sector. With AssocRICS it is now offering those individuals with the relevant experience or qualifications working within facilities management the chance to achieve an internationally recognized professional qualification.
AssocRICS will provide more FM professionals with the opportunity to gain recognition for their skills with a qualification that will certify ethical standards and competence levels. It is an entry-level professional qualification that offers an alternative to the RICS graduate route for those without a RICS accredited degree. It replaces the TechRICS qualification and is being rolled out across a number of specialist areas of the surveying profession.
The Associate assessment process is online and competency based, and the qualification is achieved by demonstrating that RICS standards have been met through relevant work experience and or qualifications. It enables FMs without a degree to undertake study modules to work towards the Assessment of Professional Competence—the practical training and experience which, when combined with academic qualifications, leads to RICS membership.
