by Ann Withanee — July 1, 2011—One year after the introduction of more than 70 new sustainable panel and seating fabrics, Kimball Office unveils the latest addition to the Vision Collection of surface materials: wood veneers and finishes. Ten new wood finishes offer clients fresh, natural-looking options that meet todays design trends and support classic styles. Introduced in Chicago in June, coinciding with NeoCon 2011, the revamped surface materials platform was developed in partnership with Perkins+Will design principals Eva Maddox and Eileen Jones and their team of designers.
Building on Kimball Office’s reputation of working with wood, the Vision collection consists of natural and premium specialty veneers. The natural, species-appropriate stains are:
- Maple—Brighton and Huntington
- Walnut—Tribeca, Midtown and Urban
- Cherry—Cordoba and Sedona
- Existing finishes Amber Cherry, Mocha Cherry, and Espresso Walnut have also transitioned into the Vision collection.
The new selection of finishes provides rich, sheer, high-impact options that allow woods natural characteristics to show through, making each piece unique, says Kimball Office.
Premium specialty veneers are:
- Sapele—Sienna and Coco
- Zebrawood Composite—Clear coat
In keeping with its commitment to responsible forestry practices, and to preserve this rare wood species, Kimball Office is offering a Zebrawood composite that beautifully replicates the contrast of natural Zebrawood. Eight coordinating wood grain laminates are also available to complement the offering.
The updated portfolio supports Kimball Offices dedication to sustainability, through the use of natural wood veneers, Zebrawood composite, High-Pressure Laminates (HPL) Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) -certified laminates, FSC wood options, and integration of Kimball Offices proprietary UV-finish, Pura.
