NREL seeks energy decision makers for national education program

by Jbs022310 f3 — February 26, 2010—Applications are currently being accepted for the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL) 2010 Executive Energy Leadership program. Energy Execs is a leadership program focused on educating business, community and government leaders about clean energy solutions through renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies.

The five-month leadership program gives executive decision makers throughout the United States an in-depth look at solar and wind power, biofuels and transportation, and energy efficient building technologies. Briefings by NREL technology experts, research laboratory tours, and visits to field applications are part of the monthly classroom experience.

The 2010 education sessions will be held May through September at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory located in Golden, Colorado. At the conclusion of the program, participants are asked to present a viable project on a renewable energy or energy efficiency application that could be implemented by their organization.

This is the fourth year for the Energy Execs program, with more than 60 representatives of Colorado industry, local government and non-profit organizations completing the class. This year NREL will accept applicants nationwide. A group of 20 participants are typically selected for the program.
