Ohio State University ergonomics training material available to housekeeping professionals

by Shane Henson — December 25, 2013—IEHA recently announced that facilities, housekeeping and property managers now have access to ergonomics awareness training material in English and Spanish.

Through the Susan Harwood Training Grant Program, sponsored by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the OSU Institute for Ergonomics previously developed and provided ergonomics awareness training to housekeepers and housekeeping managers across the United States. Now OSHA has released the training materials so even more people will benefit.

“It is great news that OSHA has made our ergonomics awareness training resources available to members of the IEHA and facilities community,” said W. Gary Allread, program director at the Institute for Ergonomics at The Ohio State University.

The Institute for Ergonomics at The Ohio State University is dedicated to ensuring safe and effective designs of work environments and consumer products. This is accomplished by determining both the physical and cognitive capabilities and limitations of people, and understanding how performance is affected by using different tools, work practices, and support technologies.
