by Ann Withanee — December 9, 2011—Fermax, maker of electronic door control and video door control systems, has expanded its video door entry system with a kit called OneToOne. The kit is designed for persons with hearing or visual difficulties. It contains everything needed to make the video entry systems for offices and businesses, as well as single family homes, completely accessible.

The door entry panel has a OneToOne screen that uses icons to indicate communication status. For instance, it indicates if the user is calling, or if someone is speaking from indoors, or is opening the door, or if the channel is busy. The signals initially designed for those with impaired hearing also make the panel more user friendly for everyone. The addition of Braille further facilitates accessibility.

The panel has a built-in voice system (now a standard issue in all Fermax products) that conveys such messages and instructions as: “The door is open; please close the door behind you.” The monitor, in turn, has an inductive loop that interacts with conventional hearing aids, facilitating conversation with the outside. Its presence goes unnoticed by all other users.

The kit also includes visual or audio call alerts, so that if someone calls from the outdoor panel, an acoustic warning light goes on. For those with disabilities, the OneToOne addition to the Fermax electronic door control allows easy communication.
