OSHA seeks best practices to reduce infectious disease hazards in healthcare facilities

by Jbs052610 h3 — May 28, 2010—In order to protect the nation’s 11 million healthcare workers’ health on the job, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is seeking input from the public on how to prevent occupational exposure to infectious diseases in healthcare facilities.

OSHA would like to know what strategies these facilities are using to reduce the risk of workplace-acquired infectious diseases. OSHA will use responses to its request for information to determine what action, if any, the agency may take to further limit the spread of occupationally acquired infectious diseases in these settings.

OSHA is requesting comments by August 4, 2010. Information is available in a Federal Register notice.
