ISS will continue to deliver integrated facility services (IFS) to approximately 1,600 Barclays sites in 35 countries.

Under the heads of terms, ISS will negotiate an extension of the relationship with Barclays until the end of 2022. Barclays is currently ISS’s largest contract. As part of the terms, ISS will continue to deliver integrated facility services (IFS) to approximately 1,600 Barclays sites in 35 countries.

ISS began working with Barclays in October 2012, providing an integrated facility services solution in the U.K. and Ireland, Continental Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Shire — 40 countries

ISS also won a five-year contract with a phased-in commencement from June 1, 2017, that builds on an existing customer relationship with Shire, a global biotechnology company. The contract’s scope and geographical footprint are now expanded to include more than 40 countries.

For Shire, ISS will focus on optimizing and standardizing select non-core processes within integrated FM, maintenance, and engineering in order to improve consistency, performance, service levels, and management of expenses.

The integrated solution will allow Shire to focus on its core business while ISS focuses on optimizing and standardizing select non-core processes within integrated facilities management, maintenance, and engineering. The goal is to drive consistency, better performance, improved service levels, and enhanced management of expenses.

The services cover catering, janitorial, building maintenance, waste management, pest control, landscaping, cleaning, uniforms and gowning, security, and other facility services.

ISS’ Integrated Facility Services offering is designed to provide the customer with all the services they need at a uniform quality level across the board, delivered by a single provider. The company says it has a large customer portfolio within pharma and biotech companies and has a strong understanding of the complexity and the level of compliance and quality needed to service the industry.

Teva Pharmaceuticals — Germany

In addition, ISS Germany’s Pharma Services will serve as Teva GmbH’s new facility services provider, under a new contract that builds on ISS’ successful relationship with Teva in Chile, Israel, and Mexico.

The Teva contract focuses on technical services for the maintenance of water, energy, and compressed air supply systems, as well as support for ventilation and cooling systems, with trained specialists ensuring that production adheres to pharmaceutical Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP).

Teva is part of Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd., reportedly one of the world’s 10 largest international pharmaceutical companies. Founded in 1901, Teva Pharmaceuticals today operates over 40 pharmaceutical manufacturing plants in North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia, and Israel, and employs 58,000 people. It is said to be the largest producer of generics in the world.

Teva signed a five-year contract with ISS, effective January 1. The range of services focuses on technical services for the maintenance of water, energy, and compressed air supply systems, as well as support for ventilation and cooling systems. More than 20 ISS employees work on the contract, most of them trained specialists focused on ensuring that production adheres to the pharmaceutical industry’s Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and other quality requirements.

In response to the new partnership, Christoph Lauer, senior director for Site Engineering at Teva GmbH, highlighted the advantage of being able to meet quality standards through cooperation with an integrated service provider. Meeting these standards depends, in large part, on the fact that ISS will provide not only general services but also production-relevant technical services.

ISS has operated in Germany since 1960, and currently numbers over 8,750 employees. The company also services Novartis, another of the major pharmaceutical companies in Germany.

The ISS Group was founded in Copenhagen in 1901 and has grown to become one of the world’s leading facility services companies. The company offers a wide range of services such as: cleaning, catering, security, property and support services as well as facilities management. ISS has approximately 500,000 employees and activities in more than 75 countries across Europe, Asia, North America, Latin America and the Pacific, serving thousands of both public and private sector customers.
