by Ann Withanee — December 13, 2010—Building on its history of physical infrastructure expertise, deep industry experience, and innovative solutions, Panduit Corp. has introduced Panduit Advisory Services.
This new business unit will offer Panduit clients lifecycle services for physical infrastructures to maximize performance, with a focus on optimal speed, space, power, and cooling based on the Unified Physical Infrastructure (UPI) approach. Designed to be delivered by Panduit’s global, best-in-class partner ecosystem, Panduit Advisory Services address enterprise needs across multiple business and technology domains, including communications, computing, control, security, and power.
“For many decades Panduit has been a trusted physical infrastructure advisor for our clients and partners around the world,” said John Caveney, Panduit CEO. “As the physical infrastructure becomes more and more relevant to support new technologies, drive operational efficiencies, and enhance reliability of mission-critical applications, our clients and partners are increasing their requests for our expertise. The formation of this Services group allows us to formally meet these requests and continues our 50-plus-year commitment to our clients.”
The growing interdependency of systems in and between data centers, facilities, and the factory floor creates risks surrounding availability, security, and convergence. Trends in virtualization, cloud computing, and next-generation architectures increase the demands that these systems place on the physical infrastructure. Panduit Advisory Services takes a holistic view of the enterprise by using its proven UPI methodology, which aligns the physical infrastructure to the logical layer of the network to drive operational and financial advantages. Through this unified approach, Panduit Advisory Services address client needs and the growing complexities related to energy conservation, thermal management, resource management, and cost optimization.
In tandem with its business partners, Panduit Advisory Services will assess and analyze current data center physical infrastructure using its proven UPI principles, reference architectures co-developed with technology leaders, and experience in developing innovative products for the physical infrastructure to design solutions that meet clients’ current needs and future requirements.
As part of Gartner’s Data Center Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Dec. 6-9, Panduit Advisory Services professionals were available at to discuss UPI-based services and solutions, and the benefits that can be gained by data centers.
