by Ann Withanee — December 21, 2011—LED (light-emitting diode) fixtures have made many inroads in the field of lighting for commercial and institutional facilities. Now, according to a recent announcement, a new path has been forged by Pathway Lighting, calling it The Pathway Twist and proclaiming: “Standardization comes to LED.”
Pathway Lighting launches The Pathway Twist, a new “twistable” technology with a standardized socket that accepts a LED twistable lamp module from any manufacturer. Now re-lamping an LED fixture is as simple as replacing a standard bulb, says the company. Pathway further explains that the engine and driver are included in the lamp module, and thus no separate driver is required.
Available in 4-in. or 6-in. round or square apertures, The Pathway Twist is offered in 2700K, 3000K and 4000K color temperatures, currently in 1100 lumens, with a CRI of 80. Lamp life ranges from 25,000 hours at 65°C to 50,000 hours at 55°C. It has a 120-volt input and is compatible with leading-edge standard incandescent dimming controls.
Future-proofed design means that the Twist fixture can be easily upgraded to newer LED twistable lamp technologies as they become available. Pathway Lighting offers The Twist with a three-year warranty. The Pathway Twist is designed for use with Zhaga standardized modules.
