
by Rebecca Walker — September 24, 2008—Perkins+Will has been named a winner of the 11th annual “Good Design is Good Business” award for the design of the recently completed One Haworth Center.
The awards, sponsored by BusinessWeek and Architectural Record, is an international competition honoring innovative architecture that both demonstrates exemplary design and helps clients achieve business goals. One Haworth Center is the 300,000-square-foot global headquarters of Haworth, Inc., an office furniture and adaptable workspace designer and manufacturer, based in Holland, MI.
One Haworth Center is the product of the complete renovation of the company’s existing headquarters building, along with the new construction of a 35,000-square-foot soaring glass atrium to maximize daylight and natural views. The entire facility is a branded customer experience functioning as a living laboratory, with all areas serving as a showroom of Haworth’s full product line. In line with the company’s commitment to sustainability, the building is registered for LEED-NC Gold certification by the US Green Building Council.

The five other winners of the Good Design is Good Business award are: Sidney Harmon Hall, designed by Diamond and Schmitt; Edmunds.com, by STUDIOS Architecture; Alley24 by NBBJ Architects; Poly International Plaza by Skidmore, Owings & Merrilll; and Elm Park, designed by Bucholz McEvoy Architects Limited.
