by Brianna Crandall — December 22, 2014—P&G Professional, the away-from-home division of consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble, announced last month that it will offer free, Web-based educational content at P&G Professional University (PGPU) to members and certified professionals seeking continuing education. PGPU will be participating in programs offered by the professional industry organizations of ISSA, International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA), and American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI).
According to P&G Professional, the details of each collaboration are unique, but with the same outcome — free, easily accessible online educational content available to professionals seeking to further their development in the professional cleaning industry:
- ISSA—ISSA launched a new end-user certification within the cleaning industry last month called the Cleaning Industry Training Standard (CITS). After passing the Cleaning 101 exam to become CITS certified, professionals can pursue advanced specialty designations by participating in select courses in various CITS-verified training programs. While the CITS designation is not free, students can access the PGPU training materials at no cost.
- International Executive Housekeepers Association (IEHA)—Completion of any PGPU professional development course will count toward required continuing education units for Certified Executive Housekeepers (CEH) and Registered Executive Housekeepers (REH).
- American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI)—Completion of the disinfecting, restroom sanitation and cleaning professional development courses at PGPU will count toward Certified Hospitality Housekeeping Executive (CHHE) re-certification points.
“P&G Professional is proud to work with these organizations to offer the expert insights, training and tools on professional cleaning topics that we’ve amassed over the years,” said Renee Buchanan, communications manager, P&G Professional. “Cleaning industry professionals can choose from a number of courses, participate in the Webinar and/or chapter-based training program, complete the associated quiz, and easily present an automatically generated completion certificate to earn continuing education credits and further their professional goals.”
The P&G Professional University features a Professional Development section that offers video-based educational content and allows students to test their knowledge through self-study sessions and quizzes, which provide immediate feedback and certificates. The Resource Library provides a more robust offering of industry-related articles and expert insights, while the Product and Procedures section leads end users to P&G Professional’s catalog of hands-on training tools. Content is available after a brief, free registration.
