PRSM Association releases guide on green cleaning

by Shane Henson — February 13, 2013—The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM Association) has launched a publication that provides retail facilities managers with guidance on procuring environmentally friendly cleaning products and services to further advance their companies’ sustainability initiatives.

According to the PRSM Association, its recently released Retail Facilities Green Cleaning Guide is a multifaceted resource for facilities managers who manage cleaning programs, procure cleaning products, and contract for cleaning services.

The resource is segmented into separate content areas, focusing on:

  • High-level policy and procedural outlines, and information on standards;
  • Guidance on what to measure and benchmark; certifications provided by ISSA—the Worldwide Cleaning Industry Association;
  • Widely recognized and recommended elements of green cleaning programs, and five options for getting started;
  • Templates, calculators, documents and other organization and data-collection tools;
  • Leadership in Energy Efficiency Design (LEED) requirements;
  • Case studies, reports, articles and white papers; and
  • Education and conferences; links.
