PRSM resource center to help retail facilities operate more sustainably

by Shane Henson — July 25, 2012—The Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM), an authority on retail, multi-site facilities management, has launched a sustainability-focused resource center within the organization’s Web site. The goal of the center is to help retailers improve their ongoing green efforts or get started with a customized plan designed for their specific needs.

This online product educates retailers on a wide range of sustainable best practices within eight focus areas:

  • Waste and Recycling
  • Occupant Comfort
  • Water Efficiency
  • Energy Performance
  • Green Cleaning
  • Outdoor/Site Maintenance
  • Procurement
  • Indoor Air Quality

“Recognizing that there are no sustainability programs specifically tailored for the retail facilities industry, PRSM leveraged the expertise of its members and the PRSM Sustainability Council to develop the Sustainability Resource Center,” said Patricia Dameron, executive director of PRSM. “This truly positions PRSM as the go-to source in sustainable retail environments and practices.”
