by Rebecca Walker — February 7, 2011—QA Graphics, an industry leader in the design of building automation system (BAS) has launched version 3.1 of its 3D symbol library for BAS software.
A core part of QA Graphics’ business is graphic outsourcing, taking mechanical control drawings and creating system graphics for the end user. With this experience, the company developed the BAS Symbol Library to offer more appealing and realistic graphics than typically provided with BAS software.
Version 3.1 is an updated release of the original graphics library. It allows users to maintain their existing software while accessing high-end graphics to provide their customers with a nicer looking user interface, according to the company.
More than 45 new symbols are available with version 3.1, and several new categories have been added to offer graphics for fire systems, lighting systems, lab systems and security systems.
With the release of v3.1, this graphics library for BAS Software now provides over 310 static graphics and more than 95 animated graphics to construct BAS graphics and HVAC graphics. Key symbols include boilers, chillers, dampers, filters, piping, fans, cooling towers, generators, valves, ductwork, coils and more. This allows users to create more than 95 percent of all mechanical systems.
New symbols include heat pumps, sensors, roof elements for roof top units, compressors, boilers for popular HVAC equipment providers including Cleaver-Brooks, Murray and Buderus, and a variety of other symbols needed to create control system graphics. The graphics can be viewed online.
The BAS Symbol Library has been implemented at numerous facilities across the country, and several leading control system manufacturers have worked with QA Graphics to develop custom libraries. For more information, see the Web site.
