by Brianna Crandall — July 14, 2014—QNAP Security has announced the availability of a new surveillance mobile app, Vcam, that turns mobile devices with video recording functions into Internet protocol (IP) cameras, enabling the recording of live video and audio feeds on the VioStor NVR. The free, convenient Vcam mobile app helps save the cost of purchasing costly IP cameras.

The Vcam mobile app introduces a new mobile surveillance application, allowing VioStor network video recorder (NVR) users to quickly record live video and audio feeds with their mobile devices and transmit to a VioStor NVR. Vcam allows users to flexibly define the resolutions of video recordings, monitor, and play back the recorded content via the VioStor NVR Web user interface and VMobile app.

“With the Vcam mobile app, users can instantly record emergent events or important activities such as meetings or seminars, and wirelessly save the videos on their VioStor NVR,” said Mike Shaw, product manager of QNAP Security. “Users can easily play back those events on the NVR Web user interface or on the VMobile app.”

Vcam mobile app is now available for iOS and Android on the Apple Store and Google Play, respectively.
