by Shane Henson — January 11, 2013—R.E. Whittaker Company, a manufacturer of solutions for the long-term maintenance of carpets, has just released the latest in its line of commercial carpet cleaning machines—the Smart Care TRIO.

This interim encapsulation cleaning machine, available in both 15 and 20-inch models, was designed with building managers and cleaning service providers in mind—with every feature engineered to make commercial carpet cleaning more cost efficient, the company says.

The biggest advancement made to the machine is the addition of a third agitator brush that provides more mechanical action for heavily soiled and high traffic areas. The TRIO also features a low-fatigue, machine-mounted solution tank; integrated debris-collection hopper; lite-touch control technology to reduce operator fatigue; and brush-protecting landing gear.

“All of these features were developed in response to what we saw as the greatest needs for our clients to make them more productive and profitable,” said Tom Whittaker, president of the R.E. Whittaker Company. “We’re very proud and excited to unveil the Smart Care TRIO. Our company has a long history of innovation in commercial carpet cleaning systems and we know the TRIO will be a great benefit to our customers.”

Since 1961, Whittaker has been pioneering developments in commercial carpet cleaning and interim cleaning. The company’s use of low-moisture interim cleaning involves a process that entails applying an encapsulating chemical solution onto the carpet and agitating the area with the machine’s brushes. Finally, the dirt and debris are removed during vacuuming at the next scheduled vacuum cycle. This process, which extends the time between hot water extractions, is less disruptive, extends the life of the carpet, and leads to consistently cleaner carpets throughout the year, says Whittaker.
