Regional U.S. cleaning and restoration trade organizations establish unified international association

by Brianna Crandall — February 22, 2012—Due to changes in the inspection, cleaning and restoration industry, and with the desire for a unified voice, leaders of seven regional trade associations throughout the United States recently culminated a long period of discussion by joining together to form a unified international association, the Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Association (ICRA). Its existence is expected to bring new services, benefits and opportunities to each organization and to enhance the education of the industry overall.

The ICRA was established by: the Society of Cleaning and Restoration Specialists (SCRT), the Cleaning and Restoration Association (CRA), the Professional Association of Cleaning and Restoration (PACR), the Midwest Cleaning and Restoration Association (MCRA), the Mid South Professional Cleaners Association (MSPCA), the New England Institute of Restoration and Cleaning (NEIRC) and the New York Rug Cleaners Institute (NYRCI), with the goal of sharing benefits, resources and knowledge.

The founding organizations point out that membership is open to anyone in the industry. They also note that the ICRA, an association membership organization, is not a part of The Clean Trust, a standard and certification organization formerly known as the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration Certification (IICRC).

Those interested in more information about the newly formed organization are encouraged to e-mail the ICRA.
