Report: PC peripherals are going wireless

by Rebecca Walker — September 3, 2010—Wireless adoption among computer mice, keyboards, printers, routers, speakers, monitors and projectors is set to increase quickly over the next five years, according to a new IMS Research report, The World Market for PC Peripherals & Accessories – 2010 Edition.

The report examines three primary reasons for the rapid growth of wireless within the PC peripheral market. First, wireless products can offer a more convenient solution for users, compared with wired products. Provided there are robust, user-friendly wireless products available, at reasonable prices, demand for these products is expected to grow.

Secondly, the average selling price (ASP) of wireless PC peripherals is expected to decline quickly due to intense competition and large-scale production.

Finally, constant innovation across a variety of wireless technologies and PC peripheral devices is further improving the user experience, and the range of products on offer.
