by Shane Henson — December 27, 2013—Revolution Lighting Technologies Inc. recently announced that 8,000 of its Seesmart brand LED tube lamps are being installed as part of the second-phase retrofit of 10 properties totaling 5.5 million square feet in New York City. Through the LEDs, property owner SL Green Realty is expected to save $30,000 annually in energy costs.
Revolution Lighting’s LED tube lamps are designed to be a direct replacement for toxic fluorescent tube lights. Because of their unique solid-state design, the lights require no warm-up time, are lightweight and extremely durable, require virtually no maintenance, and have a long life expectancy, the company says.
Revolution Lighting’s LED tube lamps have already been installed in other SL Green Realty properties, helping to meet the company’s lighting needs while slashing its electricity bill. In 2012, TriState LED, a distributor of Revolution Lighting’s Seesmart LED products, installed 16,000 LED lamps at 22 SL Green Realty properties totaling more than 7 million square feet. Addressing 24/7 lighting throughout lobbies, garages, stairs, and mechanical areas, SL Green Realty achieved a project payback of less than three years, reducing lighting energy use by more than 55 percent while saving $625,000 annually, says Revolution Lighting.
“Revolution Lighting is excited to continue its relationship with SL Green Realty, delivering significant cost savings through advanced LED lighting solutions,” said Charles J. Schafer, Revolution Lighting president and chief financial officer. “SL Green Realty’s continued use of our Seesmart brand LED products reflects the growing market confidence in the LED industry, and Revolution Lighting’s capability to deliver leading LED solutions for our customers.”
