by Brianna Crandall — March 21, 2018 — Ceiling manufacturer Rockfon recently presented a new, eight-page solutions guide listing light-reflective, noise-reducing and environmental features of the company’s acoustic ceiling products in order to support design professionals and specifiers as they select suitable ceilings for their projects, particular in pursuit of LEED certification.
Helping building teams tackle many of today’s biggest sustainability and development challenges, Rockfon offers thoughtfully designed, innovative, sustainable solutions to benefit the comfort, health and safety of occupants, and the environment.
Freedom of choice
The Rockfon LEED v4 Solution Guide assists in making an appropriate choice for acoustic ceiling product selection — whether in a stone wool panel, a metal plank or an open plenum system.
Navigating the many advantages and options of Rockfon’s ceiling systems, the brochure:
- Shares an overview of the company’s products and production facilities
- Showcases several LEED-certified projects featuring our ceiling products
- Describes the renewable and recycled composition of our products
- Details how our product attributes contribute to such LEED credit categories as Materials & Resources and Indoor Environmental Quality (EQ)
Product performance
Along with the guide’s informative text, a comprehensive product table notes the light reflectance (LR), noise reduction coefficient (NRC), and recycled content relevant for LEED EQ.
In addition, the chart notes that Rockfon metal products have no-emitting materials, and all of the company’s stone wool products have been UL Environment’s GreenGuard Gold Certified for low-emitting products.
Proof of principles
As the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and other organizations urge product manufacturers to become more transparent about their material sourcing and ingredients, Rockfon says it welcomes the opportunity for this important discussion.
Not only can the company provide customers with Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), its key suppliers also sign a Code of Conduct. Rockfon says it has adopted the ICC Business Charter for Sustainable Development — Principles for Environmental Management, where the company’s suppliers are required to ensure their own suppliers meet the same standards. Additional environmental specifics are available in the Rockfon Annual Report and the Rockfon Sustainability Report.
