by Shane Henson — September 20, 2013—With the recent installation of a highly efficient solar energy system, California San Mateo Public Library is now able to allocate funds it would have spent on electricity costs to better serve area citizens.
The proprietary solar modules used for the installation were manufactured by Motech America, and the installation was completed by Anaheim-based AAA Solar Electric. Through investing in an energy system, the 90,000-square-foot public library expects to annually reduce its energy bill by approximately $15,000, generate/save about 96,000 kilowatt hours of electricity, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 50,000 pounds.
The installation builds on the library’s commitment to not only operate sustainably, but to also educate its members on sustainability issues. It also reflects San Mateo’s desire to reduce costs through eco-friendly measures.
According to David Ngo, senior vice president of AAA Solar Electric, “This is a valuable step forward for the San Mateo community. It reflects their level of responsibility by choosing renewable solar energy to lower their utility bills, to add to the library’s sustainability position, and to enhance the educational value it can deliver.”
Dave Holleran, senior manager of module sales for Motech Americas, added, “AAA Solar Electric was an ideal choice for managing this project because of their technical skill and their experience in installing Motech products. Motech Americas works closely with many independent solar installers and integrators, such as AAA, so we can provide the highest power and most reliable clean energy modules for a wide range of needs.”
